“QUALITIES” DEFINITIONS IN AFRICAN TRADITION
Ancient African Philosophy, drawing its Essence ingredients from observable Nature, is founded on Sekhem, the Cosmic Force’s Spiritual Elements. Emanated as Substance and formed as Divine Spark Essences, each is the Ultimate Cosmic and Human Certainty. “Essence” is the “What it was” + “That it is” (its specificity, individuality, and ‘here/nowness’) when that pre-birth human came into Beinghood. “Essence” (Eu, water–partly in the sense of a “seat”) symbolizes the Egyptian Coptic name for Deity–as with Ausar (Osiris) and Auset (Greek Isis; “endowed with spirit”). Deity implies the most basic and indivisible aspect of each human’s “to be in Being” state, meaning humans are Spiritual Beings. “Humans as Gods” were represented by Tehuti, the African Master of all Masters of the Ages, being depicted as the Ibis–a wading bird related to the stork and the heron. Wading is a metaphor for the intuited spiritual learning required to walk into and on through whatever offers resistance, impedes, or makes movement difficult. To this end, “Water’s Qualities” tools are first illustrated by Water unresistingly accepting the lowest level and settling into the lowest places, rather than seeking the highest levels. Second, water demonstrates getting its way by yielding–avoiding confrontation by going around whatever gets in its way, taking the path of least resistance, and, in the process, wearing down everything of resistance in its path while eroding the hardest substance. Third, flowing water always penetrates crevices, slows to fill deep places, and is persistent in continuing to flow onward. Fourth, water maintains integrity by holding to its true nature and by following the natural forces in the Cosmos. Fifth, water has great flexibility, as seen in its liquid, gas, solid, cold, and moist states. In a similar manner, Pure Intellect uses the mind and its capacities to cut (wade) through the myriad of thoughts and concepts (water-ocean of consciousness) in order to get to the truth. The Spiritual Elements in the Cosmic Natural World display its Water attribute as Qualities directed by its Essence Disposition. The Spiritual Elements are theEssence “Home Base”—out of which African Tradition emanated an Underlying Foundation, Frame, and Ingredients for all of its Thought Structures/Deeds.
Whereas Spiritual Elements Essences are inside each of God’s Creatures and Creations, the “Home Base” for each is Unconditional Love. This naturally displays as Spiritual Higher Qualities, derived from human’s “Spark of God” Soul. Real Self people who cultivate this are in the flow state of Spiritual Elements Archetypes. That ensures one remains in a Spiritual Essence mindset. Their Primary Qualities are expressed as Wisdom, Goodness, Justice, and Perfection. Attributes from these Primary Qualities are put into action as Spiritual Selfishness, Selfless Service, Gentleness, Compassion, Kindness, Steadfastness, Patience, and Reciprocity (“the reward of one whose acts consist in the fact that one will act for her/him” in doing good). The display of these is within the “ME/WE” realm, implying ones “ME” goes out of its confined Selfhood so as to share oneself as a natural part of its Being with the “WE”. The mere giving of oneself to be in union with another is the way to realize ones Individuality. Effort is needed for Secular Primary Qualities displays. Consisting of Metaphysical Abstracts + Physical Abstractions, ones mind fashions “Virtual” (boundary-less) Contingents out of like-kind Entities. Here, all non-relevant parts are cut out so as to see the Entity’s “Skeletal Essence” as close as possible to the way it came into being. By perceiving Abstracts and Abstractions and reducing them to their Theme enables one to connect and unify events and things differing widely in form and external appearance–as far as seeming to be Contrary Opposites—as long as the attributes share an Essence.
Secular Primary Qualities—e.g. Reason, Judgment, Dispassion, Balance, Breadth, Height, Depth–can best be–or only be–recognized when compared to its Complementary or Contradictory Opposite. There are no specific distinctions for Secondary and Tertiary Qualities recognition. Resultant conclusions pave ways, via Virtual/Contingent Being concepts, to have reasonable “Fore-Sight” (probable developments) that enable “Forethought” (doing all the necessary planning before taking “calculated” risks) to be instituted. Such is the intuitive intellectual basis of Unconditional Love, as symbolized by the Goddess Ma’at Principles (Amen, Metu Neter I:88).
