Whereas the term “General Abstract” refers to anything in the Metaphysical, the word “General Abstraction” refers to non-objects in the Material World (see Table XIII). After the mental “Abstraction” of perceiving a common quality(s) in different material things (e.g. the four legs in my dog Sandy and neighborhood dogs), one can form a general idea (e.g. a generic Dog). While “Whiteness” in my dog Sandy is a Simple Abstraction, to refer to “whiteness” by itself without relating it to Sandy, horses, or houses is to advance into the General Abstraction realm of the Material World. The “General” leaves out the many other different objects exemplifying whiteness.
