Absolute “Either/Or” and “All-or-None” apply only in the Natural Spiritual World–e.g. either exhibiting all of Unconditional Love (God-Made) or not. Supernatural believers promote their superiority by doing the opposite. In the Supernatural Physical World, either something is “For me” or “Against me.” By disregarding the Spiritual and Metaphysical planes of existence, it thus fits for Supernaturals to say: “Love and Hate” are opposites—because, they say, both are human-made relative emotions. To illustrate, “Reciprocity” is in Ancient Africans’ Twelve Cardinal Virtues—pathways symbolizing the highest of human excellence. Others are: Propriety (be in accordance with the fitting and appropriate),Balance, Order, Truth, Harmony, Peace and Tranquility, Fellowship, Justice, Rightness, and Straightness or Righteousness. Reciprocity is defined as: “the rewards from ones “Gifts” come by unknown Receivers doing “ME/WE” acts for the Giver in doing Good”. This is African Tradition’s way to determine ones degree of “ME/WE” success. To elaborate, one is not to expect to be directly rewarded for good acts. Instead, one receives rewards through and by the characteristics, qualities, and affinities acquired by having done them + by those helped, in turn demonstrating a “ripple-helping-others” effect. Selfless Service is best provided anonymously because this relieves Receivers from feeling obligations to respond in kind (i.e. Reciprocity), especially if unable to do so. The Givers’ pleasure comes from making the Gift and supplying it, as opposed to the receiver wanting it or accepting it or using it or benefitting from it. The Law of Causality pertains to a relationship between entities and their actions but does not specify the kind of causal processes operative in any particular entity. Nor does it imply the same kinds of causal processes are operative in all entities. Yet, in the Consequences of the Giver (a generous Heart) and theReceiver relationship, there could exist a similarity of Spiritual Elements Feelings experienced: Appreciation, Respect,Selflessness, Sharing, Compassion, Gentleness, Kindness, and Helpfulness. These promote a Nonaggressive Atmosphere of inner peace, social harmony, and contentment.
The quite different Supernatural sense was used by Hammurabi (1792-1750 BC) with the Babylonians. Since they had an Inequality social system, Extremism reigned—exploitation of the oppressed. Despite some laws being rather progressive, others were quite brutal—as in the phrase, “an eye for an eye.” This signified equality within the domain of every aspect of the composite, depending upon the status of the involved person. In Hammurabi’s recorded words: “If a man has destroyed the eye of a man of the gentleman class, they shall destroy his eye …. If he has destroyed the eye of a commoner … he shall pay one mina of silver. If he has destroyed the eye of a gentleman’s slave … he shall pay half the slave’s price.” The phrase “an eye for an eye” represents what many view as a harsh sense of vengeful justice–an alternating receiving and returning Reciprocity. Hence, the first determines the second and then the second determines the first–in a feud manner. Hammurabi’s concept has been carried on to this day, with modifications off the theme of: “A blow is repaid by its like, to every action there is a similar response”—in short, “An Eye for an Eye” in retaliation—a Bible justification. A variant is attacking someone close to the intended (e.g. a family member) for revenge.
An “All-or-None” variant is those “Individualists” who “Give” within liaisons and alliances so as to receive—otherwise they do not “Give”. Such “Giving” of service is seen as an unspoken rule in urgency situations so as to receive help when they need it. Its story prominently occurred when Aryans of 2000 BC would stop daily fighting each other whenever they faced a common threat. They then joined forces to fight that common enemy. Similarly, in today’s “civility” politics, Republican opponents, obviously hostile to one another at one moment, come together in the next moment to agree on plans designed to defeat a Democrat. By far, the most common “All-or-None” variant is seen in “me, me, me” oriented people who expect to be given what they want, when they want it, and for that to endlessly continue. Yet, despite giving nothing in return, they vociferously complain if there is anything they dislike about it. “All-or-None” and “Either/Or”—by being terms of opposition—are “Make-Believe” when applied to almost all things in the Physical World because of leading people to see reality in ways other than they are—then make false conclusions—then take wrong actions of destruction. jabaileymd.com
